Jim Tunney (Irish politician)

Jim Tunney (* December 25, 1923, † 17 January 2002) was an Irish politician.

Tunney in 1969 for the Fianna Fáil elected to the Dáil Éireann. He belonged to the House of Commons until 1992. In his time as an MP, he was the 19th and the 21st Dáil parliamentary secretary to Minister of Education. From 1 January 1978 to 30 June 1981 Tunney exercised the office of Minister of State in the Ministry of Education and then finally resigned from this post in order to become deputy leader of the House ( Leas - Cheann Comhairle ). He held the office of 7 July 1981 to 27 January 1982, and March 23, 1982 to November 4, 1982, then again from 24 March 1987 until 25 May 1989 and the 26th Dáil on 18 July 1989 to 24 November 1992.

From 1985 to 1986 he held the office of Lord Mayor of Dublin ( Lord Mayor of Dublin).
