Jin Yuelin

Jin Yuelin ' (Chinese金岳霖; * 1895 in Changsha, Hunan Province, † 1984) was a Chinese philosopher and logician.

Born in Changsha City, Hunan Province, he went in 1914 after graduating from Tsinghua College in the United States to study at the University of Pennsylvania Political Science. After his B. A. he wrote in 1917 at Columbia University, one to continue his studies in political science. After receipt of the Master Artiums, he received his doctorate in 1920 with a thesis which was entitled The Political Theory of thGreen.

Following his promotion to Jin Yuelin embarked on a five-year research trip around Europe, which led him to the UK, France, Germany and Italy. After his return to China, he first taught philosophy at Peking University and Tsinghua University, where he founded in 1926 the Faculty of Arts. 1952-1955 was Jin, similar to previously at Tsinghua University, working in a dual role as professor and dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at Peking University. Subsequently, the Vice - Director of the Institute of Philosophy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
