Jirō Akagawa

Jiro Akagawa (Japanese赤 川 次郎, Akagawa Jiro; * February 29, 1948 in Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefecture) is a Japanese writer. He is best known for his humorous detective and horror stories. 1976, the year in which he dedicated himself to professional writing, he released his debut ghost train, with which he won the prestigious All Yomimono New Mystery Writers' Prize.

Akigawa is considered highly productive, as he has so far published more than 480 short stories and sold more than 300 million single issues. His works are as templates for anime, video games, TV shows or films shooting in the pop culture. One of his most famous series is that of the cat detective Mikeneko Hōmuzu (三毛 猫 ホームズ).
