Joachim Weickert

Joachim Weickert ( born March 15, 1965 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German mathematician and professor of mathematics and computer science.

He studied at the University of Kaiserslautern from 1984 to 1991, received his diploma in 1991 in industrial mathematics and in 1996 received his doctorate with a dissertation on " Anisotropic Diffusion in Image Processing" in the Department of Mathematics.

In 2001 he habilitated at the University of Mannheim in computer science. He worked as a research assistant at the University of Kaiserslautern, as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Utrecht (Netherlands ) and Copenhagen (Denmark), as well as a university assistant at the University of Mannheim.

He is currently a professor of mathematics and computer science at the University of Saarland in Saarbrücken, where he heads the " Mathematical Image Analysis Group ". His research interests are image processing, computer vision and scientific computing.
