Joan Manuel Serrat

Joan Manuel Serrat (* December 27, 1943 in Barcelona, Spain ) is a Spanish singer-songwriter. He is one of the most important Spanish singer-songwriters of the last decades. His work includes the musical adaptation of various poets, including Mario Benedetti, Antonio Machado, Miguel Hernandez, Rafael Alberti, Federico García Lorca, Pablo Neruda and León Felipe. In 1968 he was commissioned by the Spanish television channel TVE from the competition Euro Vision Song Contest, because he wanted to sing the song La, la, la, la Calva which there was originally written in Spanish by Ramon Arcusa and Manuel, in Catalan.
