Joan Root

Joan Wells Root, nee Thorpe ( born March 25, 1936 in Nairobi, † January 14, 2006 in Naivasha, Kenya) was a Tierfilmerin and conservation activist.

Joan Root, daughter of a coffee planter coming from England and even a safari guide, was known in 1976 with the film " Balloon Safari over the Kilimanjaro ," which she turned with her husband Alan Root. Most recently, she lived for several decades on their farm Lake Naivasha northwest of Nairobi, where she was murdered in early 2006.
