Joanna Domańska

Joanna Domańska ( born September 20, 1959 in Gliwice ) is a Polish pianist and pedagogue.

Life

She studied at the Academy of Music in Krakow at Prof. Jan Hoffman and at the Music Academy Katowice O / S with Prof. Andrzej Jasinski. She completed her studies completed in Katowice with distinction. Thereafter, 1986-1987, she studied in Paris with Livia Rev on a scholarship from the French Government.

She is an interpreter of Karol Szymanowski's piano works, also valued for their interpretations of Johannes Brahms, Maurice Ravel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Frederic Chopin.

The artist has successfully participated in several international competitions: M. Long - J. Thibaud in Paris in 1981, A. Casagrande in Terni ( Italy) in 1982 and at the Festival of Polish Piano Music in Slupsk ( Stolp, Poland) 1982 Joanna Domańska was to many. invited to festivals such as to the following: Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Festa Musica Pro in Asiggi, Maggio Musicale Florentino in Florence, the Chopin Festival in Ghent, Festival de Radio France et de Montpellier, Warsaw Autumn, as well as the International day of the Karol Szymanowski Music in Zakopane.

In 2007 Joanna Domańska has recorded together with Andrzej Tatarski at the company DUX a CD with the global premiere of the piano version of Szymanowski's ballet music Harnasie. This CD was again nominated (DUX 0576) for the award of the Polish music industry Fryderyk 2008. 2008 their third CD ( DUX 0615 ) appeared with works by Karol Szymanowski ( metopes op 29, 12 Études, Op 33, III Sonata Op 36, 4 Polish Dances ).
