Joanna Murray-Smith

Joanna Murray -Smith ( born April 17, 1962 in Mount Eliza, Victoria ) is an Australian writer.

The daughter of the editor Stephen Murray -Smith attended the school of their hometown and studied at the University of Melbourne. They quickly became one of the most important Australian playwright, who also found international recognition.

Her most successful play is Honour (1995). It was read at the New York Stage and Film Festival Meryl Streep, Sam Waterston and Kyra Sedgwick; the Broadway production in 1998 was nominated for two Tony Awards. It was performed in more than 20 countries and printed in the USA, Australia and Japan. For Honour and Rapture Murray -Smith was awarded the Victorian Premier 's Literary Award, Bombshells was awarded the London Theatregoers ' Choice Award and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe First Award.

In addition, Murray -Smith wrote novels and the libretto for the opera Love in the Age of Therapy ( 2004) and newspaper columns.
