João Carlos Pinto Chaves

João Carlos ( born January 1, 1982 in Realengo; actually João Carlos Pinto Chaves ) is a Brazilian footballer who is since August 2013 at Spartak Moscow under contract. His preferred position is central defense.

João Carlos began his career with CR Vasco da Gama, where he played until 2002. For the season 2002/ 03 he moved to CSKA Sofia, with whom he was in 2003 Bulgarian champions. After two years he left CSKA Sofia and moved to SC Lokeren. For Lokeren he played for four years and then went to league rivals KRC Genk where he signed a four year contract. With Genk he was 2009 Belgian Cup winners. From January 2011 to August 2013 he was at Anzhi Makhachkala under contract.

On August 21, 2013 João Carlos moved to Spartak Moscow.
