João d'Avila Moreira Lima

João d' Avila Moreira Lima ( born August 30, 1919 in Itabirito; † 30 September 2011 in Rio de Janeiro) was a Brazilian priest, theologian and Bishop of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro.

Life

João d' Avila Moreira Lima studied Catholic theology and philosophy in Rome and received on 8 April 1944 was ordained a priest. He was at the Archdiocesan Seminary of St. Joseph rector, spiritual director and professor of theology.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 21 June 1982 Titular Bishop of Lesina and appointed him as Auxiliary Bishop of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro. The Archbishop of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro Eugênio Cardinal de Araújo Sales donated him on 24 August 1982, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were José Alberto Lopes de Castro Pinto, Bishop in Guaxupé and Celso José Pinto da Silva, Bishop of Vitória da Conquista. His motto was " In Tuo Verbo " (Luke 5:5).

On 20 March 2002 Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related.
