João Manuel, Prince of Portugal

John Manuel of Portugal ( born June 3, 1537 Évora, † January 2, 1554 in Lisbon ) was the fifth son of John III. of Portugal and his wife Katharina, Archduchess of Austria and Infanta of Castile - younger sister of Emperor Charles V. - born. He was heir to the throne, but died before he could ascend the throne. On December 7, 1552, he married the youngest daughter of Charles V, his cousin Johanna, Archduchess of Austria and Infanta of Spain that earned him the son Sebastian I. (* January 20, 1554; † August 4, 1578 ) gave birth.
