Joaquín Albareda y Ramoneda

Joaquín Anselmo María Cardinal Albareda y Ramoneda OSB ( born February 16, 1892 in Barcelona, Spain, † July 19, 1966 Barcelona, Spain ) was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Joaquín Anselmo María Albareda occurred in 1904 in the Benedictine monastery of Montserrat, where he professed Simple 1908 took off. He studied Catholic theology, philosophy, and library and documentation science in Rome and Freiburg and received on 7 July 1915, the sacrament of Holy Orders. From 1915 to 1923 he worked at the Montserrat Monastery, after two years of further study he took there from 1923 to 1936, the task of the archivist's true.

In 1936 he received the appointment as prefect of the Vatican Library. 1950 he was appointed Titularabt of Santa Maria de Ripoll. In 1962, Pope John XXIII. as cardinal deacon with the title Diakonia Apollinare alle Terme Neroniane - Alessandrine to the College of Cardinals and ordained him Titular Archbishop of Gypsaria; Co-consecrators were the Curia Giuseppe Benedetto Aloisi Masella and Pizzardo. In the years 1962-1965 Joaquín Anselmo María Albareda y Ramoneda took part in the Second Vatican Council. He died on July 19, 1966 in Barcelona and was buried in the crypt of the Benedictine Abbey of Montserrat.
