Joaquín Cortés

Joaquín Cortés ( real: Joaquín Reyes Pedraja ) ( born February 22, 1969 in Córdoba, Spain ) is a Spanish dancer, who comes from a gypsy family.

Joaquín Cortés began his dance career at the age of 12, shortly after his family moved to Madrid. At 15, he became a soloist at the Spanish National Ballet. After his departure from the Spanish National Ballet, he gave performances at the side of major dancers such as Maya Plisetskaya and Sylvie Guillem. In 1992 he founded his own ballet company, the Joaquín Cortés Flamenco Ballet. This ballet company he has since been very successful in all over the world.

A wider audience, he was known for his collaboration with Jennifer Lopez and Alicia Keys. Cineastes can, inter alia, it admire Flower of My Secret in the film noir with Laetitia Casta Gitano under the direction of Manuel Palacios and Pedro Almodóvar's film.
