Jobst Bernhard von Aufsees

Jodokus ( Jobst ) Bernhard Freiherr von Aufseß, also of Aufsees, ( born March 28, 1671 at village Menger, † April 2, 1738 in Würzburg) was a canon in the diocese of Bamberg and Würzburg.

Origin

The family of Aufseß is an old Frankish noble family and since 1601 in the possession of the manor Menger village in Upper Franconia.

Canon and founder of Aufseesianums

Jodokus (also: Jodocus or Jobst ) Bernhard Freiherr von Aufseß was baptized Lutheran, but resigned in 1683 over the Catholic Church and was trained as a Catholic priest. He was canon of Bamberg and Würzburg from 1683 from 1686 and 1709 founder of Aufseesianums in Bamberg.
