Joe Wizan

Joe Wizan ( born January 7, 1935 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, † March 21, 2011 in Westlake Village, California ) was an American film producer.

Life and work

Born in Mexico, Wizan grew up in Los Angeles, California. He began studying at UCLA and served in the Army National Guard.

Wizan began his career in the film business as a talent agent in the 1950s. In the 1970s, he turned to the production of feature films and particularly with his involvement came to 2001 a total of 32 films of different genres. For most of his career Wizan acted as an independent producer, in 1970 he founded his own company.

Wizan was responsible for the film adaptation of several literary works, such as two works by James Patterson.

In 1983 he was appointed president of 20th Century Fox Productions and stayed for 18 months working in the position. He left the film studio before the completion of a three - year contract, according to his own statement on the basis of significant differences in the questions which projects should be produced and implemented.

In the 1990s he was the host of a talk show on radio station krla in Los Angeles. This caused him to life mission with the initial title Inside the Movies, later renamed The A-List, dealt with the film industry and has numerous actors, screenwriters and others working in the film industry personalities welcome as guests.

For the 1972 film Jeremiah Johnson staged the entire film crew at the Western Heritage Awards was a year later awarded the Bronze Wrangler. For the production of Two of a Kind Wizan 1984 was nominated for the Golden Raspberry.

Wizan was married and the father of two children.
