Joel Buchanan Danner

Joel Buchanan Danner (* 1804 in Liberty, Maryland, † July 29, 1885 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. In the years 1850 and 1851 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

About the youth and education of Joel Danner nothing is handed down. Later he operated a hardware store in Gettysburg. He also served in coach. In Gettysburg, he was at times also justice of the peace. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party.

After the death of Mr Henry Nes Danner was in the due election for the 15 seats of Pennsylvania as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on December 2, 1850. Until March 3, 1851, he could end the current parliamentary term in Congress.

After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Joel Danner took his previous activities in Gettysburg again. During the Civil War he was a member of the Gettysburg Central Relief Committee. Prior to the Battle of Gettysburg he performed at an advance of Confederate General Robert E. Lee together militia troops. He was an eyewitness to the battle. Joel Danner spent the rest of his life in Gettysburg, where he died on 29 July 1885.
