Joel Hirschhorn

Joel Hirschhorn ( born December 18, 1937 in the Bronx, New York City; † September 17, 2005 in Thousand Oaks, California ) was an American composer and songwriter.

Life

Joel Hirschhorn has set to music a number of films and was nominated four times for an Academy Award four times for a Golden Globe and two-time Tony Award. He twice won the Oscar and indeed with his partner Al Kasha for the film music " The Morning After" in The Poseidon Adventure (1973) and " May Never Love Like This Again" in The Towering Inferno (1975). In 1977 Hischhorn and Kasha for two Oscars in the movie " Pete's Dragon" ( Pete's Dragon ) nominated (1977). The TV series JAG - The Call of Duty, South Park and The Simpsons were exploited musically from him.

Hirschhorn sold well over 93 million records, he has, for example, recorded with Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, Roy Orbison, Frank Sinatra and Julian Lennon.

Joel Hirschhorn was married to documentary filmmaker Jennifer Carter, who survived him.
