Johan Henrik Freithoff

Johan Henrik Freithoff (* 1713 in Kristiansand, Norway, † June 24, 1767 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish- Norwegian composer, violinist and officialdom.

He studied during the 1730's years of violin and composition in Italy, possibly with Giovanni Battista Sammartini. It is certain that he in 1737 in the service of the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Gian Gastone de ' Medici, was, and that he visited Constantinople 1742 Opel in October. In 1742 he returned to Kristiansand before. 1744 a job as Hofviolinist at Christian VI got. In 1746 he was additionally a well-paid position as secretary of the Danish firm. He died 21 years later of tuberculosis.

Nine chamber works have been preserved, including two sonatas, one for flute, another for violin.
