Johan Ihre

Johan your the Elder ( born March 14, 1707 Lund, † December 1, 1780 in Uppsala ) was a Swedish linguist.

Life

Johan was born as your son of the theologian Thomas your (1659-1720) and his first wife Brita Steuchia († 1710). When the father died, the orphan child was raised by his grandfather, the Archbishop Mattias Steuchius (1644-1730), on.

1730 put Johan from your the master's degree in Uppsala. From 1730 to 1733 he studied abroad ( including in Oxford, London and Paris). 1738 married Johan Sara Charlotta your Brauner ( † 1758). After the death of his wife he married a year later Charlotta Johanna Gerner ( 1728-1822 ).
