Johann Adam Bergk
Johann Adam Bergk (* 1769 in Hainichen ( Thuringia), † October 27, 1834 in Leipzig ) was a German independent scholar, translator, and philosopher.
Life
He published his life, popular - philosophical writings under his own name, anonymously, or under the name Hainichen and Jul. Frey. These refer to the Kantian philosophy, psychology, law and philosophy of religion. His son is the well-known classical scholar Theodor Bergk ( 1812-1881 ). Some authors anticipate him to the German Jacobins, and this will help his argument for reforms to prevent the revolutions that contradicts.
Bergk came particularly at the time of the French Revolution and the Napoleonic supremacy in Saxony repeatedly in conflict with the censorship. Thus, among other things, issued his magazine "The European overseer " french banned due to critical content. Bergk life was dependent on his income as a writer, because it never managed to get a professorship, which probably was also due to his political constitutionalist ideas.
