Johann Christian Gottlieb Ackermann

Johann Christian Gottlieb Ackermann ( born February 17, 1756 in Zeulenroda, † March 9, 1801 in Altdorf bei Nürnberg ) was a German physician.

Life

With only fifteen years, Ackermann had already visited the University of Jena. His teacher was Ernst Gottfried Baldinger. Both changed then to Göttingen, where he studied the classical sciences with Christian Gottlob Heyne next to the medicine. Ackermann doctorate to 1775 Adjunct Faculty of Medicine, University of Halle, where he spent two years.

He then returned to Zeulenroda to practice as a doctor. In 1786 he was appointed to the University of Altdorf, where he was a Professor of Chemistry. In 1794 he participated in the Department of Applied Medicine and held at the same time the position of director of the hospital's arms. Ackermann died at the age of 45 from tuberculosis.

The focus of Ackermann's scientific work was in the study of historical medical journals. He collected rare books and translated foreign literature into German.
