Johann Christian von Stramberg

Johann Christian Hermenegild Joseph Franz de Paula Benjamin Štramberk of Grosberg (* October 13, 1785 in Koblenz, † July 20, 1868 ) was a German historian and author. He became famous mainly through his work " Rhenish Antiquarius ".

Life

Johann Christian von Štramberk was born on October 13, 1785 in Koblenz. His father was a native of Austria Hofgerichtsassessor and notary Joseph Štramberk of Grossberg (1742-1829), his mother was Maria Franziska von Gaerz ( 1755-1808 ).

He studied after attending high school in Koblenz in 1803 in Erlangen, and soon after in Paris, the law and political science, where he also put a focus on foreign languages ​​and history. In 1810 he entered the service in the administration of the Rhine-Moselle department. With the support of his authority, he wrote his first work " Topographical Description of the canton of the Rhine river ," which he was able to complete in 1816.

When his housekeeper Maria Luzia Bolzano expecting a child by him, they were married at the beginning of 1818.
