Johann Christian Wilhelm Augusti

Johann Christian Wilhelm Augusti ( born October 27, 1771 in Eschenbergen, Thuringia, † April 28, 1841 in Koblenz ) was a German Protestant theologian, Christian archaeologist and orientalist.

Life

As the son of the pastor Ernst Friedrich Anton Augusti (1738-1827) and grandson of a rabbi visited the Augusti Ernestinum Gotha. From 1790 he studied at the University of Jena. He habilitated in 1798 and he became a lecturer at the same university. Since 1800, a full professor of philosophy, Augusti 1803 Full Professor of Oriental Languages ​​. In 1808 he received his doctorate at the University of Rinteln to Dr. theol. In 1812 he went as professor of theology at the new Silesian Friedrich Wilhelm University of Breslau. 1812/13 and 1813/14 he was its rector.

In 1819 he moved to the Chair of the Rheinische Friedrich- Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, whose rector he in turn was 1818/19 and 1823/24. 1828 he was appointed Oberkonsistorialrat and 1835 to Konsistorialdirektor.

His estate was appropriated by Paul Augusti 1971, the last direct descendants of the Bonn city archives. It was a total of 40 documents. 2012 were bought to his wife Ernestine Elisabeth Charlotte, including a bridal sales letter six more letters Augustis.
