Johann Conrad Felsing

Johann Friedrich Conrad Felsing ( born March 1, 1766 casting; † 3 December 1819 in Darmstadt) was an engraver and Copper printer.

Johann Conrad Felsing completed apprenticeship as a watchmaker, in which he already engraved watches and begins to copy stitches. In 1787 he begins another lesson in Darmstadt at the then court engraver Goepfert, but already in 1788 commits suicide. The Hereditary Prince of Hesse, later Ludwig I ( Hesse -Darmstadt ), supports him through an annual support. In 1796 he will be court engraver. In 1797 he relates the building its future copper printing company that is successful in business soon.

Felsing distinguished himself by his topographical works, for which he developed a new type of display. His most recent and best work belongs to the military- topographical plan of Mainz ( 1816). He also provided many portraits in stipple.

His sons Johann Heinrich and Jacob were also an engraver.
