Johann Friedrich Schleusner

Johann Friedrich Schleusner ( born January 16, 1759 in Leipzig, † February 21, 1831 in Wittenberg ) was a German Protestant theologian.

Life

Schleusner enrolled on 19 May 1775 at the University of Leipzig, where he received the degree of Master of Arts on 18 February 1779 concentrated on theological studies. In 1781 he received the teaching certificate as Master laying, lectured, and he was born on October 7, 1782 Bachelor of Theology. He worked as morning preacher at the University Church in Leipzig.

Easter 1785 he was appointed professor at the University of Göttingen as an associate professor of theology, where he became in 1790 professor of theology. Since the Office demanded a doctor's degree, he completed his PhD on April 2, 1791 in Göttingen. In 1794 he took the place of the fourth professor of theology at the University of Wittenberg, connected with it was the Office of the Provost at the Castle Church in Wittenberg and the assessor at the Wittenberg consistory. He was also in the winter semesters 1798, 1804 and 1808 Rector of the University of Wittenberg.

In 1805 he moved from the fourth to the third theological professorship and remained after the dissolution of the Wittenberg Academy and the Association with the University of Halle on his provost guard. He was involved as the second director of the foundation of the Protestant Seminary and taught there.

In February 1829, he also presented his work one due to stroke, a second stroke took his own life to an end.

Schleusner was married to Christiane Sophie Weber ( born February 7, 1768 in Leipzig, July 30, 1801 in Wittenberg), his son Georg Schleusner also gained recognition in Wittenberg.
