Johann Heinrich Achterfeldt

Johann Heinrich Achterfeld ( born June 1, 1788 in Wesel, † May 11, 1877 in Bonn) was a Catholic theologian, professor and publisher.

Achterfeld studied as a student Georg Hermes ' in Cologne and Münster, theology and worked as a priest in Wesel and Xanten from 1813. 1817 Achterfeld professor of theology at Brown Mountain and in 1826 professor of moral theology and homiletics at the University of Bonn. Since 1827 he also headed the local Theologenkonvikt.

1832 founded Achterfeld together with Johann Braun "Journal of Philosophy and Catholic Theology " and published 1834-1836 Georg Hermes ' lectures as " Old Catholic dogma ." When Pope Gregory XVI. this was prohibited in 1835, Achterfeld did not recognize the condemnation of hermesianischen training system, so that he was deprived of the management of the Seminary and prohibits multiple lectures to keep. 1843 Roller field was made professor for discussion. Only after a declaration of submission he was in 1862 by the government in 1873 and rehabilitated by the Church.
