Johann Heinrich Hartmann Bätz

Johann Heinrich Hartmann Bätz (* 1709 in Frankenroda; † 1770 probably in Utrecht ) was a German - Dutch organ builder.

Life

Baetz was born in 1709 in Frankenroda / Thuringia. He learned to 1733 the organ building trade from Johann Christoph Thielemann in Gotha. Then he moved to the Netherlands, where he was employed by Christian Müller for the construction of the organ of St. Bavo Church ( Haarlem ). In 1739 he opened his own workshop in Utrecht. He created until his death in 1770 sixteen organs. He founded a family of organ builders who built about 60 church organs in the Netherlands.
