Frankenroda

Frankenroda is a municipality in the district of Wartburg in Thuringia. The municipality belongs to the administrative community Mihla.

Geography

Geographical Location

Frankenroda situated within the conservation area of Werra Valley. About the location of the mountain monk, a northern side of the summit majority to hawks belonging widths mountain perched with a small observation tower. To Frankenroda heard the north of the village located Probsteizella.

History

Frankenroda was first mentioned on 10 July 1229. Ludwig the Iron is called, as he had increased his ownership of Peter pin to Erfurt to some lands on the Werra between hawks and Frankenroda. At this time, the inhabitants were the parish after Probsteizella, since the place has not yet had its own church. In 1715 the population of Frankenroda was about 240 people.

Natural Monuments

The nature reserve Probsteizella located north of the local situation and has a size of 26.9 acres. It was reported on 23 March 1961.

Traffic

From 1902 to 1945, Frankenroda a station on the railway line Schwebda - Warta, which connected the city with Eisenach, Mihla, Creuzburg, Treffurt, Wanfried and Eschwege. On 3 April 1945, the Werra bridges of the railway line at Mihla, Ebenshausen, Frankenroda and hawks were blown up in the fighting of World War II. Rail transport between Mihla and Treffurt was then not resumed. For road transport Frankenroda can be reached via one of the road L 1016 ( Eisenach- Mihla Mulhouse ) branching off county road.
