Johann Josua Mosengel

Johann Joshua Mosengel ( born September 16, 1663 Stolzenau or near Eisenach; † January 18, 1731 in Königsberg, Prussia ) was a German organ builder.

Life

Mosengel was born in 1663 either in Stolzenau / Weser or near Eisenach. He learns the craft of organ building in Johann Gottfried Trost Tobias and Martin 's father. A new building in bite village in the Hanover area from 1695 is his first independent work. 1695 he is " Electoral Hannoverscher organ builder ". As " Electoral Brandenburg- Prussian court organ builder " he goes in 1698 to Königsberg, where he "Royal Prussian court organ builder " is 1701. Works

From Mosengels workshop went in his lifetime produced about 40 new buildings and he took about 20 tags.

In the cathedral organ used in Königsberg Mosengel partially doing pipework from the previous organ from the 16th century by Zickermann. After Mosengels rebuilding this organ had 62 stops on three manuals and pedal one of the largest of its time.

To Mosengels typical features included moving angels to the Prospectus and the Prussian Eagle with moving wings.

Few of his works survived the Second World War, most were destroyed or looted. And in the Protestant church Pasym (German: Passenheim ): In the former East Prussia, the plants in Święta Lipka ( Heiligelinde dt ) are only obtained.

Family

Little is known about Mosengels parents. It even got married in 1699 in Königsberg Dorothea Show, with whom he had six children. His daughter Anna Catharina (1706-1740) married George Casparini Sigismund (1693-1741), who worked from 1721 onwards in the workshop Mosengels and this took over in 1731.
