Johann Michael Bretschneider

Johann Michael Bretschneider ( born September 15, 1680 in Schreckenstein in Usti nad Labem, † October 27, 1729 in Vienna) (also: Pretschreider ) was a German Baroque painter.

His parents were Wentzel and Ludmilla Bretschneider.

Life

His teacher is not known but it is believed that he has learned at Byss, Johann (1660-1738) in Prague. 1697 he is among them Peter Johann Brandl quoted some other free painters ( interferers ) in the City Hall in Old Town Prague. On July 18, 1700 he is recorded in the Old Town painters' guild and gets on September 20, the right of citizenship. He remains in Prague until 1703. In the years 1717-1721 he can prove in Vienna, where he painted genre pictures and flowers Then he probably comes to Bavaria, where today find pictures of him in the Pinakothek.
