Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Institut
The Johann Sebastian Bach Institute in Göttingen was founded in 1951 as lead Edition Institute of the New Bach Edition.
As a sponsoring organization, the club was Johann Sebastian Bach Institute Göttingen eV His task was to develop, in cooperation with the Bach - Archiv Leipzig a new edition of the complete works of Johann Sebastian Bach, met stringent scientific requirements and at the same time to serve the musical practice. A reliable factory output was not before 1951; Moreover, the destruction of the Second World War had led to the awareness that one must take advantage of the surviving sources for a new edition to reflect the work of Bach as authentic as possible and thus to have permanently available.
The Institute presented with the completion of the New Bach Edition end of 2006 its activities.
