Johann von Dumreicher

Johann Heinrich Freiherr Dumreicher of Austrians ( born January 13, 1815 in Trieste, † November 16, 1880 in Jecanušev in Zagreb) was an Austrian physician and surgeon.

Johann came from a merchant family in Trieste. The study of medicine in Vienna, he graduated in 1838 with a doctorate from. Since 1841 assistant at the surgical clinic, he habilitated in 1844 as Assistant Professor and in 1846 chief physician at a surgical department in the general hospital. In 1849 he became a full professor of surgery and director of surgical clinic. He was the first surgeon who dealt with orthopedic issues.

Special, who did much in the Austro-Prussian War of 1866. 1869 he became president of a commission to reorganize the military medical service in Austria.

His burial site was located in Graz, in 1899, his body was buried at the cemetery Hetzendorfer. In 1953 ( 22nd District ) was named after him in the Dumreichergasse Vienna Danube city.
