Johannes Flintrop

John Flintrop (* May 23, 1904 in Barmen, Wuppertal today, † August 18 1942 in the Dachau concentration camp) was a German Roman Catholic priest and Nazi victims.

Life

John Flintrop studied theology and philosophy at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster. There he became a member of the Catholic Student Association AV Arminia to Munster in Cartellverband the Catholic German student fraternities (CV). 1927 Flintrop was ordained a priest in Cologne Cathedral. First John Flintrop Kaplan was in the parish of Sacred Heart in Cologne- Mülheim, since 1932, he was then chaplain to the Lambertuskirche to Mettmann.

He was also a committed member of the Kolping Society and whose district Präses. The Kolping Society was a " stronghold of the rebels " in the time of National Socialism in observation. Because of his critical statements against the Nazi regime Flintrop was arrested and initially detained at the Düsseldorf Ulmer Hoh JVA Dusseldorf. On April 13, 1942 Flintrop spent in the concentration camp at Dachau. He died there on August 18, 1942, probably from the effects of " medical " experiments.

The Requiem in Mettmann for John Flintrop was a silent protest against Nazism. The City Council Mettmann decided after the war to name the former Wilhelmstrasse by John Flintrop. The funeral of his urn was near his birthplace on the family plot in the cemetery Flintrop Protect road to the parish of St. Anthony in Barmen. A grave of honor for Flintrops faith brother Bernhard Letter house was built a few meters away in 2010.
