Johannes Theodor Baargeld

Johannes Theodor Baargeld or Zentrodada, civil Alfred Ferdinand Gruenwald, ( born October 9, 1892 in Stettin, † August 18, 1927 at Mont Blanc ) was a German painter, printmaker, writer and publicist of Dadaism.

Life and work

Baargeld grew up in Cologne. After graduation he studied in the years 1912/13, Law at Oxford University and continued his studies in Bonn on. During the First World War he served from 1914 to 1917 as a reserve lieutenant. In 1917 he began, lyrical and political texts for Franz Pfemfert magazine to write the action and joined in the following year the USPD.
