John Adolph, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Norburg

Johann Adolf von Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Norburg (also: Hans Adolf) (* September 15, 1576, † February 21, 1624 ) was Duke of Norburg on Als. He was the son of John of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg and his wife Elisabeth of Brunswick- Grubenhagen. When his father died in 1622, he inherited the area around the Norburg on the island of Alsen and thus became the first Duke of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Norburg. He was from 1596 to 1597 in Rome, to study as his father.

He was not married, for his bride Maria Hedwig, the daughter of Ernst Ludwig of Pommern - Wolgast, died in 1606 before the marriage. After his early death, his brother Frederick inherited the title and the country.
