John Alfred Valentine Butler

John Alfred Valentine Butler ( born February 14, 1899 in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, England; † July 16, 1977 ) was a British chemist with a focus on Physical Chemistry.

He has significantly contributed to it, to develop the Thermodynamic Electrochemistry, dominated the first half of the 20th century to the kinetic electrochemistry on. According to him, and Max Volmer, the Butler -Volmer equation was named. He was elected in 1956 a Fellow of the Royal Society.
