John Bentley (actor)

John Bentley ( born December 2, 1916 in Sparkhill, Birmingham, † August 13 2009 in Petworth, Sussex ) was a British actor.

Life

Bentley was initially stage actor and radio announcer ( for Radio Luxembourg before the Second World War) and arrived in 1946 for the film, where he was quickly used in low-cost crime melodramas - first in a Paul Temple series, then as The Toff in two films. Occasionally he received In addition to these main roles in B- movies and roles in larger productions. In 1958, he achieved great success with the television series African Patrol, in which he identified as Chief Inspector Paul Derek 38 times. 1960 saw him also in the German home movie to sacred waters in a supporting role.

From 1965 to 1977 he played in the hit TV soap Crossroads; then he returned to stage work until he retired in 1990.
