The chase began in the harbor ( Original title: River Beat ) is a British crime film directed by Guy Green from 1954 with John Bentley, Phyllis Kirk and Leonard White in the lead roles. The film was produced for Victor Hanbury Productions.

Action

The London police inspector Dan Barker patrols on the River Thames in search of diamond smugglers. He makes the acquaintance of Judy Roberts, a Schiffsfunkerin to which he immediately feels very attracted to. As Judy is found in possession of some of smuggled gems, the inspector must determine whether it belongs to the gang of smugglers or whether it is only used. If she is guilty, he should be arrested, despite his feelings. If she is innocent, he needs it from the clutches of the gang, of which it is known that each of the dies for testifying against her, save her.
