John Bevan (rugby union)

John David Bevan ( born March 12, 1948 in Neath, Neath Port Talbot, † June 5, 1986 in Port Talbot, Neath Port Talbot ) was a Welsh rugby union player and coach. He played as a connector.

Bevan played for Aberavon RFC 1975 and came to his international debut against France. In the same year he played three more times for Wales, the last in December against Australia. In 1977, he was taken with the tour of the British and Irish Lions to New Zealand, although he no longer was used in the Welsh national team. For the Lions, he played ahead of the series against the All Blacks twelve games against regional selections.

In 1982, Bevan the office of national coach of Wales. Due to health problems he was forced to resign in November 1985, a few months later he died of cancer.
