Aberavon RFC

The Aberavon Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club that plays in the Welsh Premier Division. The home games are played at the Talbot Athletic Ground.

History

The Aberavon RFC was founded under the name Afan RFC 1876. In 1888 it joined the National Association Welsh Rugby Union and was able to start from there on a regular basis against other clubs from the region. In the next few decades you had to frequently change places, as in the city's other steel factories were built. Since 1921, played at the Talbot Athletic Ground, Aberavon now. At the same time due to a newspaper article the nickname Wizards emerged. With the team colors of red and black ran for the first time in 1952. To date, 48 national players emerged from the Aberavons rows.

From the 2009/10 season the club at the British and Irish Cup, will take part in a competition for second-rate clubs.
