Bedwas RFC

The Bedwas Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club that plays in the Welsh Premier Division. The home games are played in the Bridge Field.

History

The club was founded in 1889 and is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union, the National Association since 1910. With the outbreak of the First World War, the rugby activity ended in the city for several years. Not until 1920 that could be played back. Similar happened during the Second World War. Since 1947, the club is based in the Bridgeport Field. In the 1990s it was possible to rise from the fifth to the second division of the Welsh League.

Since 2003, play regional selection teams from Wales in the Magners League, whose squad are fed by the existing clubs. The Bedwas RFC is assigned to the Newport Gwent Dragons.
