John Brightman, Baron Brightman

John Anson Brightman, Baron Brightman, of Ibthorpe in the County of Hampshire PC ( born June 20, 1911 † 6 February 2006) was a British lawyer who most recently as Lord of Appeal in Ordinary, due to the Appellate Jurisdiction Act 1876 as a Life Peer also a member of the House of Lords was.

Life

After attending Marlborough College graduated Brightman, whose father was a solicitor, a Law studies at St John's College, University of Cambridge and received in 1932 the lawyer is admitted to the Bar Association ( Inns of Court ) from Lincoln 's Inn, after which it work as a Barrister recorded. At the beginning of the Second World War in 1939 he was a sailor in the merchant marine and then served 1940-1946 in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve ( RNVR ). Most recently, he was there promoted to lieutenant commander in 1944 and was until 1946 Deputy Naval Attaché in Turkey.

He then resumed his work as a lawyer again and acted beyond 1955-1960 as a member of the General Council of the Bar. Brightman, who was Attorney-General in 1961 (Queen 's Counsel ) and 1966 so-called " Bencher " the Law Society of Lincoln 's Inn, was 1966-1970 again a member of the General Council of the Bar.
