John Burnett, Baron Burnett

John Patrick Aubone Burnett, Baron Burnett ( born September 19, 1945) is a British lawyer and politician of the Liberal Democrats.

Life and career

Burnett, son of Lieutenant Colonel Aubone Burnett and Joan Bolt, the Ampleworth attended college in the county of North Yorkshire.

From 1964 to 1970 Burnett served in the Royal Marines. From 1965 to 1966 he was platoon commander ( Troop Commander) of 42 Commando RM Borneo and 1967-1969 Second platoon leader and commander of 40 Commando RM Far East and Middle East. He finished his military service with the rank of lieutenant.

1975 Burnett was admitted to the bar. His area of ​​focus was the tax law. From 1976 to 1997 he worked as a partner and later as a senior partner of Burd Pearse Soliticors in Okehampton.

Burnett from 1985 to 1997 Member of the Council ( Council) of the Devon Cattle Breeders' Society. In 1989 he won the National Competition of the Devon Cattle Breeders Herd Society. From 1984 to 1996 he was a member of the Revenue Law Committee of the Law Society.

Membership in the House of Commons

In 1997 Burnett Emma Harriet Nicholson, who was appointed to the House of Lords, as MP for the constituency of West Devon and Torridge.
