John Casimir (clarinetist)

John Casimir (* October 16, 1898; † January 3, 1963 in New Orleans) was an American clarinetist of the New Orleans Jazz. In 1938 he founded the Young Tuxedo Brass Band, which he directed until his death.

He began playing in 1919 in the Young Eagles band in New Orleans and was in the Tuxedo Brass Band, in which he played with Louis Armstrong.

As with the Original Tuxedo Jazz Band, he headed next to the brass band and a dance band ( Young Tuxedo Jazz Band ). He took up with the Brass Band in 1958, but also with the jazz band.
