John Cookman

John Emory Cookman ( born September 2, 1909 in Englewood, New Jersey; † August 19, 1982 in Plattsburgh, New York ) was an American professional ice hockey player.

Career

John Cookman first attended the Phillips Exeter Academy. He then studied at Yale University, where he graduated in 1931. He was vice president of Benson & Hedges, when the company was acquired in 1954 by Philip Morris. From 1963 to 1978 he was on the Board of Directors of Philip Morris. In 1967 he was appointed Chief Financial Officer of the company before he was Senior Vice President in 1970.

Internationally

For the U.S. Cookman took part in the 1932 Olympics in Lake Placid, where he won the silver medal with his team. He scored two goals in five games.
