John Dalrymple, 14th Earl of Stair

John David James Dalrymple, 14th Earl of Stair ( born September 4, 1961) is a British politician and peer. He is since 2008 as one of 90 selected Erbadeligen member of the House of Lords from 1996 to 1999, he was due his title already a member of the Upper House.

Origin

Stair is the eldest child of John Dalrymple, 13th Earl of Stair and Davina Katherine Bowes -Lyon, the sister of the late "Queen Mum," Elizabeth Bowes -Lyon. His mother is therefore a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, he himself, therefore, a second cousin of her children Charles, Prince of Wales, Anne Mountbatten -Windsor, Princess Royal, Andrew Mountbatten -Windsor, Duke of York, and Edward Mountbatten -Windsor, Earl of Wessex.

Career

After the death in 1996 of his father Stair fell to the title of his father and his seat in the House of Lords. After the House of Lords Act, he lost his seat at first, failed a choice in the group of 90 selected Erbadeligen the House of Lords. Only after the death of Davina Ingrams 18th Baroness Darcy de Knayth 2008 he was again elected to the House of Lords. He belongs to no party, but sits as a cross Bencher in the upper house.

Family

Stair daughter of Ralph Stonor, 7th Baron Camoys and Elizabeth Mary Hyde Parker since 2006 with Emily Mary Julia Stonor married. His son and heir is born January 3, 2008 John Thomas James Dalrymple with the courtesy title Viscount Dalrymple.
