John Daly (athlete)

John Daly ( John Joseph Daly, born February 22, 1880 in Ballgluin, County Galway, † March 11, 1969 in New York City, United States) was an Irish long-haul and hurdler who at two Olympic Games, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland represented.

1904 in St. Louis, he won the silver medal in the 2590 m steeplechase. At the 1906 Summer Olympics in Athens he crossed the finish line in the five- mile race in third, but was disqualified because he had his rivals Edward Dahl disabled. In the marathon of these games he was injured on.

When the Nations Cross in 1903 he was third in 1904 and fourth in 1906. In 1904 he was U.S. champion hurdle over two miles, in 1907 in five-mile run and the ten -mile road race.
