John Darnton

John Darnton ( born November 20, 1941 in New York City ) is a journalist and writer from the United States.

Life

Darnton is the son of Byron Darnton, a war correspondent of the New York Times and his wife Eleanor. His brother is the historian Robert Darnton.

Darnton studied at the University of Wisconsin. In 1966 he started at the New York Times to work and was there for more than 40 years as a journalist.

In 1982 he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize as a journalist. His books have been translated into more than 20 languages. 2003 Darnton was Chief of Bureau of The New York Times, London. In 2005 he went to the New York Times in retirement.

He is married to journalist Nina Darnton. They live in New York City. They have two daughters and a son.

1996 Darnton wrote his first novel "Valley of Life" ( Neanderthal ). The novel was a bestseller right away.

Awards
