John de Mowbray, 2nd Duke of Norfolk

John Mowbray, 2nd Duke of Norfolk ( * 1392, † October 19, 1432 in Epworth, North Lincolnshire ) was an English nobleman. His parents were Thomas Mowbray, 1st Duke of Norfolk ( * March 22, 1366; † September 22, 1399 ), and his second wife, Lady Elizabeth FitzAlan. He is the younger brother of Thomas Mowbray, 4th Earl of Norfolk.

1399 was John's father by Richard II in the wake of the events surrounding the Lords Appellant and the death of Thomas of Woodstock, 1st Duke of Gloucester, was exiled and died in the same year in exile. The dukedom was first released, and Johns older brother Thomas inherited the title Earl of Norfolk and Earl of Nottingham, which fell to the younger after his death in 1405.

1415 John was involved in the preparations of the France campaign of Henry V and was before the departure of the army participants of the Court of Conisburgh about Richard, father of Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York, and grandfather of Edward IV and Richard III. He participated in the siege Harfleurs, but was missing because of illness at the Battle of Agincourt.

In 1425 he was awarded by the regent of Henry VI. because of his faithful services the renewed Dukedom back of his father.

John was with Katherine Neville, daughter of Ralph Neville, 1st Earl of Westmorland and Joan Beaufort, married. Catherine was an older sister of Cecily Neville, wife of Richard Plantagenet and Anne Neville, wife of Humphrey Stafford, 1st Duke of Buckingham.

John and Katherine had a son, John ( * 1415 † 1461 ), who took the heritage after his father's death.
