John Eudes
John (Jean) Eudes ( born November 14, 1601 Mazerai at Ri, Normandy, France; † August 19, 1680 in Caen ) was a Catholic priest and founder of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary and the Congregation of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd. Because of his commitment to spreading the devotion to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, the Holy. Life

At 14 he came in Caen, led by a Jesuit school. In 1622 he learned in Caen, the world community of priests " Oratory " founded by St. Philip Neri know and entered there. On December 20, 1625 he was ordained a priest.
1627 wrote his father that the plague raged in the region Argentan and many men died without sacraments. John Eudes then devoted himself to the care and pastoral care among the plague victims.
At the suggestion of Cardinal Pierre de Bérulle, his superior, Eudes held numerous popular missions and wrote books, of which the most famous "Life and the Kingdom of Jesus in Christian Souls" is. His spirituality is strongly influenced by the École française de spiritualité ("French school" ) Bérulles. This community opened in Caen a seminar. Later, the St. founded. John Eudes more seminars in Normandy and Brittany. He tirelessly reminded the priest of the meaning of their task and preached to them the priestly life holiness of the priests, which is connected with the life of Christ, a " biological -like image of Christ " must be, he must be " clothed with His Holiness ."
